Afonso Chen is registered as a trainee lawyer at the Macau Lawyers Association and his current practice has a strong focus on finance and banking, securities and capital markets, corporate governance, commercial issues, civil matters, and litigation.
He is experienced at assisting in a variety of matters, particularly in some specified areas such as corporate and civil, legal consultancy services to major banking institutions in Macau, handling a series of corporate bond issuances and IPO projects involving Macau, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. He also participates in providing legal advice requested by clients, such as drafting contracts, incorporation of companies, commercial counseling, and notarial matters.
He got legal professional qualification recognized by the Ministry of Justice of China, graduated from the Faculty of Law at Zhejiang University in China, concluded his Master of Law in at the University of Macau, PhD in law candidate at the same university, having been member of the group of jurists for providing research and consultation services regarding numerous projects, in cooperation with the Macau government. He joined the firm in 2015 and has published several academic articles in the Macau Law Review and other publications, is also a visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Universities in Macao.
Afonso has attended the Postgraduate Course in Corporate Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and the Postgraduate Course in Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal.
He is native in Mandarin and fluent in both oral and written Cantonese, Portuguese, and English.
