Rui Sousa

Rui Sousa has been practicing in Macau since 1990 and he is a licensed Private Notary since 2001.

Rui has extensive experience in litigation, banking and finance, insurance, securities, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and construction matters. He is highly experienced in mortgages and land concessions and in his practice he has assisted and reviewed several government contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, public services concessions.

Rui has assisted public tenders and provides regulatory and compliance advisory on a regular basis. In his practice he has also been involved in advising on legal matters related to sport events and sport facilities, retail, transportations, media and telecommunications and provides assistance on labour and employment legal cases.

During his practice Rui has represented clients in litigation from preliminary injunctions to commercial and contract disputes, professional liability, unfair competition, administrative proceedings criminal and tort offenses as well as advising on the prevention of claims, avoidance of litigation and settlements.

Rui graduated from the Lisbon School of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal and he is a member of the Macau Lawyers Association and the Portuguese Bar Association.

He is native in Portuguese and fluent in both oral and written English and French.
